BioFriends (CEO Wonjun Cho), which owns and sells low-carbon fuel green methanol and Green DME manufacturing technologies, held a joint implementation agreement with Prime Plasma Inc. in Evanston, the U.S., on June 7 to produce  Turquoise Hydrogen and conductive Carbon Black, by the end of this year, it was decided to build facilities, manufacture conductive Carbon Black, and manufacture CO₂-free hydrogen necessary to manufacture Green methanol and Green DME by building a pilot plant that produces 100kg of Carbon Black and 30kg of Turquoise Hydrogen per day and commercialization.

BioFriends successfully conducted CO₂-free hydrogen manufacturing as well as conductive Carbon Black manufacturing experiments through its own bench-scale Turquoise Hydrogen and Carbon Black manufacturing experiments. Through this, it is planned to be used as a secondary battery conductor from Carbon Black production with the conductivity level characteristics. CO₂-free Turquoise Hydrogen is planned to be used as a raw material for manufacturing Green methanol and Green DME. Green methanol and Green DME are recently a type of E-Fuel that plans to develop and commercialize technologies by 2035 in Europe, and are considered new attempts to neutralize carbon.

"Through this joint implementation agreement, the two companies will approach the development and commercialization of Turquoise Hydrogen and Carbon Black production commercialization plant technologies in Korea and the United States, which will pave the way for introducing Turquoise Hydrogen as an alternative to greenhouse gas reduction," said Wonjun Cho, CEO of BioFriends.
