Biofriends holds the 2nd factory completion ceremony
Plan to mix LPG and supply it to smart farms

A facility capable of producing 10,000 tons of DME (Dimethyl Ether) per year has been built in Boeun. DME is attracting attention as a clean energy that can be produced through the process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO₂) and converting it into methanol.

On the 31st, Biofriends held a completion ceremony for the second Biofriends DME factory at the Boeun Industrial Complex Resident Business Council building in Boeun-gun, North Chungcheong Province.

The completion ceremony was attended by Cho Won-jun, CEO of Biofriends, Kim Myeong-gyu, Deputy Governor of North Chungcheong Province, National Assembly member Park Deok-heum, Boeun County Mayor Choi Jae-hyung, Chungbuk Science and Technology Innovation Institute Director Kim Sang-gyu, and Korea Automobile Research Institute Director Na Seung-sik.

Biofriends' Boeun DME 2nd Factory began construction in 2021 with an investment of 15 billion won. It is equipped with a methanol storage tank, DME reaction plant, and DME storage tank on a 11,000m² site. Biofriends moved into the Boeun Industrial Complex in 2018 and has been steadily investing and expanding facilities.

In addition, we are continuing to develop clean energy technologies, including successfully converting DME into Efue (a mixed fuel made by synthesizing carbon dioxide and nitrogen with hydrogen obtained through water electrolysis).

Wonjun Cho, CEO of Biofriends, said, “In the future, we will expand the scope of use by mixing DME and LPG and distributing it to smart farms,” and added, “We will go beyond leading the clean hydrogen business and move forward as a representative company that saves the local economy.”

Meanwhile, at the completion ceremony, recognition plaques and appreciation plaques were awarded to executives and employees who have worked hard for Bio Friends.
